How to export your Bank of Scotland statement to CSV

By The Income Tracker ยท Updated 8 September 2026

In short

Log in to Bank of Scotland Internet Banking in a web browser (the app only offers PDF statements), open the account, pick a date range and export as CSV. Then import that file into The Income Tracker and track your money for free, with no bank login.

Export Bank of Scotland transactions as CSV

  1. Log in to Internet Banking in a browser and open the account.
  2. Open Search transactions and use Edit date range to set from and to dates, up to 12 months at a time.
  3. Leave the description and amount boxes blank and run the search.
  4. At the bottom of the results choose Export .CSV or Export .QIF.
  5. Save the file and import it into The Income Tracker.

Bank of Scotland shares its online platform with Halifax and Lloyds, so the screens match those guides. Business Internet Banking has the export under Statement options, then Export transactions (CSV, QIF), with a cap of 1,000 lines per file.

Formats Bank of Scotland offers: CSV, QIF and PDF. CSV is the cleanest import. OFX and QIF also import directly.

What happens after you import

Drop the file in and every transaction lands in a month-by-month ledger. Drag items into categories, flag the recurring ones, and watch your surplus update as you go. Money moved between your own accounts gets auto-skipped, so transfers never double-count. Duplicates are caught too, so importing overlapping date ranges is safe.

Only got a PDF? You can still import it. See how to import a PDF bank statement.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export Bank of Scotland transactions to CSV for free?
Yes. Bank of Scotland lets you download your own transactions as a file at no cost from Bank of Scotland Internet Banking in a web browser (the app only offers PDF statements). You then import that file into a budgeting tool such as The Income Tracker.
Do I need to connect or log in to my bank to use The Income Tracker?
No. There is no open-banking connection and you never enter bank credentials into The Income Tracker. You download the file from Bank of Scotland yourself and drop it into the app, which runs entirely in your browser.

Yes. The Income Tracker is local-first. Your imported transactions stay in your own browser and are never uploaded to a server, unless you choose to sign in to sync across devices.
