How to export your Nationwide statement to CSV

By The Income Tracker ยท Updated 8 September 2026

In short

Log in to the Nationwide Internet Bank on a computer (the Banking app only offers PDF statements), open the account, pick a date range and export as CSV. Then import that file into The Income Tracker and track your money for free, with no bank login.

Export Nationwide transactions as CSV

  1. Log in to the Nationwide Internet Bank in a desktop browser, not the Banking app.
  2. Select the current account you want to export.
  3. Set the date range above the transaction list. The Internet Bank shows around 15 months.
  4. Click Download transactions at the top right of the transactions list.
  5. Choose Download CSV file. OFX and midata are offered too.
  6. Save the file and import it into The Income Tracker.

Download transactions appears on current accounts and credit cards. Some savings accounts only offer PDF statements, which you can still paste in. Older months live under Documents, then Statements, as PDFs going back 36 months.

Formats Nationwide offers: CSV, OFX, midata (a CSV-style file) and PDF. CSV is the cleanest import. OFX and QIF also import directly.

What happens after you import

Drop the file in and every transaction lands in a month-by-month ledger. Drag items into categories, flag the recurring ones, and watch your surplus update as you go. Money moved between your own accounts gets auto-skipped, so transfers never double-count. Duplicates are caught too, so importing overlapping date ranges is safe.

Only got a PDF? You can still import it. See how to import a PDF bank statement.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export Nationwide transactions to CSV for free?
Yes. Nationwide lets you download your own transactions as a file at no cost from the Nationwide Internet Bank on a computer (the Banking app only offers PDF statements). You then import that file into a budgeting tool such as The Income Tracker.
Do I need to connect or log in to my bank to use The Income Tracker?
No. There is no open-banking connection and you never enter bank credentials into The Income Tracker. You download the file from Nationwide yourself and drop it into the app, which runs entirely in your browser.
Is my Nationwide data kept private?
Yes. The Income Tracker is local-first. Your imported transactions stay in your own browser and are never uploaded to a server, unless you choose to sign in to sync across devices.
Can I export a CSV from the Nationwide app?
No. The Banking app only produces PDF statements. Use the Internet Bank in a browser for CSV, OFX or midata files. On an iPhone or iPad the browser can show the option but may not download it, so a computer is the reliable route.
