How to export your HSBC UK statement to CSV

By The Income Tracker · Updated 16 June 2026

In short

Log in to HSBC Online Banking on desktop, from the transactions list rather than the PDF statement, open the account, pick a date range and export as CSV. Then import that file into The Income Tracker and track your money for free, with no bank login.

Export HSBC UK transactions as CSV

  1. Log in to HSBC UK Online Banking on a computer (a mobile browser works too, but not the app).
  2. Open the account you want to export.
  3. Go to the transactions or previous statements view for that account.
  4. Use the Download option and choose CSV (or Excel).
  5. Save the file and import it into The Income Tracker.

HSBC's official monthly statements are PDF only. CSV comes from the transactions list and usually covers recent activity, so export in chunks if you need more history.

What happens after you import

Drop the file in and every transaction lands in a month-by-month ledger. Drag items into categories, flag the recurring ones, and watch your surplus update as you go. Money moved between your own accounts gets auto-skipped, so transfers never double-count.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export HSBC UK transactions to CSV for free?
Yes. HSBC UK lets you download your own transactions as a CSV file at no cost from HSBC Online Banking on desktop, from the transactions list rather than the PDF statement. You then import that file into a budgeting tool such as The Income Tracker.
Do I need to connect or log in to my bank to use The Income Tracker?
No. There is no open-banking connection and you never enter bank credentials into The Income Tracker. You download the CSV from HSBC UK yourself and drop it into the app, which runs entirely in your browser.
Is my HSBC UK data kept private?
Yes. The Income Tracker is local-first. Your imported transactions stay in your own browser and are never uploaded to a server, unless you choose to sign in to sync across devices.
